Mark Hix

Republic of Living has worked with Mark Hix on several ocassions, starting with Tramshed in Shoreditch, London.  

Together with Interior Designers at Waugh Thistleton we went through several chairs for the dining room and we eventually landed on the 111 Navy Chairs from Emeco with the aluminium version chosen as the barstool; the chairs really work well in the room.

Hixter

Following the success of Tramshed, Hix decided to roll out the chicken and steak concept, branded as Hixter.  Republic of Living furnished two sites, this time working with architects Stiff & Trevillion, and taking a mid century twist with the furniture.

The chairs in Bankside are by Kai Christiansen.

Hix Soho

Mark Hix liked the Danish mid  century furniture and asked us to  look at the Soho site to refresh it  with a new, softer feel.  We  proposed  another Kai Christiansen  chair in a beautiful walnut finish, with red leather upholstery.

We also placed some more  contemporary furniture down in the  New York style basement 'Mark's  Bar'.  We worked with Mater in  Denmark who produce the Space  Copenhagen barstools and low  stools, tying together the scandinavian finish.

The relationship with Hix has endured, and we have been responsible for many small advances in his other restauants.

We continue to work with Mark and look forward to the next project.
